In memory of our sweet Mackie, affectionately known as Whacky Mackie
February 13,1989 - June 20, 1996
Has it already been two long years
Since that day we cried a final river of tears?
That heartbreaking day you could no longer go on
The day the epilepsy you battled five years finally won.
Despite your illness you were a scottie extraordinaire
Wherever you went, folks knew you you were there.
Life of the party, a performer for all
Folks asked for you when they came to call.
We miss you a lot and in our minds see you still
Guarding our house from every window sill.
Dad misses his buddy who was always at his side
When he heard the van doors open and slide.
We still expect to find the things that you stashed
Cookies, sandwiches, brown sugar, you were unabashed.
You were a grumbler and talker, always had to have last word
For you believed a noble scottie had the right to be heard.
We think of you free of pain, romping at the Rainbow Bridge
Free from pain, nosing for food in some eternal fridge!
You are now truely our angel, playing with all the others
Who are also missed by their earthly families and mothers
We remember how you loved to ride in the fishing boat
Joyously, the wind in your face, your beard all afloat.
Mischief in your eyes, larking about, what fun this was
Barking at other boats and the fishes who trepass.
Now that we are for this life apart,
That is the picture of you I carry in my heart.
